LONDON (Reuters) - Private equity firm CVC Capital Partners confirmed on Tuesday that investors Waddell & Reed, Norges Bank and BlackRock had paid $1.6 billion in cash for a 21 percent stake in the Formula One motor racing business. "We look forward to working with our new partners over the coming years," said Donald Mackenzie, a managing partner at CVC, calling the investment great news for Formula 1. CVC, which had owned 63.4 percent of the business, said it would continue to be Formula 1's largest and controlling shareholder. ...

LONDON (Reuters) - Bruno Senna's Williams car came through the Spanish Grand Prix garage fire relatively undamaged and the Brazilian will use it in Monaco again this weekend, the Formula One team said on Monday. The car had been in the Circuit de Catalunya garage when the fire broke out as the team posed for a victory photograph following Pastor Maldonado's first Formula One win eight days ago. Photographs showed it surrounded by charred debris and covered by extinguisher foam but a team spokeswoman said the chassis was fine. ...

Jimmie Johnson gave himself a real good ride during the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Then Johnson gave Rick Hendrick the ride of a lifetime.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was coasting under caution, about to start the third segment of the Sprint All-Star Race, but he couldn't prevent his mind from drifting to another event.
7:50 a.m. ET-- The top-four drivers in qualifying -- Elliott Sadler, Sam Hornish Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Michael McDowell -- were separated by less than 2/10ths of a second. Justin Allgaier took fifth, while Austin Dillon, Brian Scott, Darrell Wallace Jr., Danica Patrick and Parker Kligerman round out the top 10.

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Motor racing business Formula One will start pre-marketing for its up to $3 billion Singapore initial public offering on May 22 after receiving approval from the city's stock exchange for the deal, sources with direct knowledge of the plans said on Monday. The company is seeking to raise at least $2.5 billion, vying to rank among the top IPOs in the world this year after Facebook Inc raised as much as $18.4 billion and a planned $3 billion listing by Malaysia's Felda Global Ventures Holding. ...

Admittedly, Sprint Cup drivers haven't raced in heavy traffic since NASCAR mandated shorter side skirts for the cars, but in the All-Star Race practice and qualifying Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, most drivers felt little or no difference in the way their cars performed.
